Stephen J. Buoniconti, Esq.

Steve began his public service career in local government in his hometown of West Springfield before being elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 2000.  He went on to be elected to the Massachusetts State Senate in 2004 where he served three terms. 


In the Senate, Steve served as Chairman of the Joint Committee on Public Service, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Rules, and Chairman of the Joint Committee on Financial Services with jurisdiction over the industries of insurance and banking.


Steve’s practice with the firm is focused on direct executive and legislative lobbying on behalf of our clients. His institutional knowledge and personal experience working as a colleague with elected and appointed officials gives the clients of Buoniconti & McCary, LLC a unique perspective into the decision making process on Beacon Hill.   


He received his BA from Fairfield University and his JD from Western New England College School of Law.  He resides in Agawam, MA where he lives with his wife Gina and their daughter Samantha. 


Michael McCary

Michael began his career as aide to State Representative Michael Kane (D-Holyoke) and later as Legislative Director to Senator Stephen J. Buoniconti (D-West Springfield). In his role with Senator Buoniconti, Michael was responsible for all legislative and policy analysis, including drafting and vetting legislation pending before the various committees of which the Senator served as Chairman.

      

Michael has a track record of assisting clients in identifying emerging issues and advising them on how best to shape those issues as they develop.  His practice at the firm focuses on lobbying, legislative drafting and policy analysis, and strategic communications.  His experience and extensive knowledge of the legislative and regulatory processes of state government help keep our clients ahead of the curve.     


Michael received his BA in History from the College of the Holy Cross and MS in Public Affairs from the McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston.  He is a resident of Brentwood, NH where he lives with his wife Kate and their children Nathaniel, James, and Anna.
